Now is a great opportunity for growing global agoras:
- There is a need for sustainable strategies in the face
of rampant depletion of world resources.
- There is a need to maintain local honor and living standards
in the face of Westernizing globalization.
- There are numerous well-intentioned groups whose fragmentation
and isolation prevent their making an effective difference.
- There is a lack of broad-based and inclusive progressive
effort.
- The idea of agoras is gaining professional currency. SDP
is winning converts. Co-Laboratories of Design: How People
Harness Their Collective Wisdom and Power to Create the
Future, which explains the history, science, processes,
and successes of SDP in fine detail, will be published in
February by Information Age.
People who participate in the Structured Design Process are
usually enthusiastic about the workshop and even more enthusiastic
about the results they achieve on their action plans. We anticipate
that the participants and observers of these co-laboratories
will be interested in using them in other communities and
organizations. We propose to make them available to parties
that could not otherwise afford to invigorate themselves in
this way. To that end, we seek support.
