The International Systems Institute is "a community of scholars, practitioners, and institutions exploring the question of how individuals, organizations, communities, and societies can create their futures through a relativeley ne kind of inquiry and way of life called participatory social systems design... ISI's mission is carried out through the year-round collaboration of self-organizing research teams and a series of conferences or "conversations" where scholars and practitioners engage in dialogue about their inquiries and present their findings to others."The ISI conversations have nurtured many innovative theoretical and practical initiatives including the Institute for 21st Century Agoras.
